Elliott has been a patent prosecutor since 2003, and his practice has included drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as providing general patent strategy advice for managing patent portfolios, and assisting with due diligence research. His prosecution experience spans various areas of electrical engineering including optics (e.g., interferometry, spectroscopy, quantum devices, intraocular lenses), computer architecture (e.g., multicore processor architecture, wireless chip design), networks and networking protocols (e.g., wireless, optical, powerline), medical devices (e.g., optical and acoustic imaging), signal processing (e.g., video compression, voice recognition), and software including database management systems.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining O&R Patent Law, Elliott was a Technology Specialist at Fish & Richardson P.C. Before entering the patent field, Elliott served as a Postdoctoral Associate for the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics (2002-2003) working on free-space optical communications, and as a Research Assistant at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory (1996-2001) working on periodically-poled nonlinear materials. He has additional research experience in experimental nonlinear optics and quantum communications as a graduate student at MIT (1995-2002).

Elliott has also published articles in Optics and Physics journals, and has given talks at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO).
