Areas of Practice

Frank works closely with clients ranging from larger corporations requiring help in managing their patent portfolios to smaller privately held companies. With certain small to mid-size clients, Frank has essentially served as in-house counsel. With the clients’ business objectives in mind, Frank develops intellectual property strategies that match the clients’ needs and executes a follow-through plan to implement those strategies. Frank has an efficient and highly effective approach to patent prosecution, including frequent visits to the United States Patent & Trademark Office to discuss his clients’ inventions with patent examiners. These discussions have minimized the possibility of prolonged, protracted, and costly prosecution and have led to granted patents for his clients’ inventions, with meaningful value and longer enforceability term.

Prior to his career as a patent attorney, Frank worked for more than 10 years as an electrical engineer, designing and developing RF/microwave components and subsystems, including transceivers, amplifiers, filters, and mixers, for use in high-frequency communications and defense systems. Aside from work relating to his specific technical background, Frank represents clients in a broad range of technologies, including telecommunications, semiconductor fabrication, power distribution, computer architecture, and medical devices.

Professional Experience

In addition to his work in patent prosecution, Frank provides counseling in areas of due diligence and opinions (patentability, non-infringement, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate). Frank also assists his clients with preparing for and, if desired, avoiding litigation.
